Popular Contracting

Popular Contracting, Inc began as a small painting company created by Owen Cahill and Chris Fillippelli 15 years ago with a small yellow van. Today there are six trucks on the road. Speaking about what it took to grow the business, Owen’s answer is always: integrity, honesty and maintaining good relationships with clients. He believes that although there are many large corporations, there is still a market for small companies to be successful. The key to success relies on relationships with clients, transparency in the work process, and the personal touch they deliver along the way. He acknowledges that South Shore Bank shares those key attributes.

Popular Contracting, Inc. wants to change the perception of contracting businesses by running their company in a unique way. Owen generously involves his company in many charity projects that are meaningful to the community. Popular Contracting, Inc. has successfully completed projects with the Franciscan’s Children’s Hospital in Brighton and Project Coats for Kids among others.

In running Popular Contracting, Inc’s ever-growing company, Owen found himself pleasantly surprised when he walked into South Shore Bank’s Norwell location and met Banking Center Officer, Mike Tinkham. Rather than being treated like a number, they sat down together and had a personable conversation that made all the difference. He left the Bank feeling well-treated and welcomed, which he shared with his business partner, Chris, and his wife. He knew South Shore Bank was a perfect fit because it was where he felt a connection.

The Bank delivered for the needs of Popular Contracting, Inc. by providing a line of credit, which had a sizable impact for the business.

When asked about South Shore Bank’s new online and mobile banking platform, Owen said, “The online system is great, and the use of the app is handy; the mobile check depositing is an appreciated tool. The process was straightforward, and the technological advances being up to date made it even easier.”

Owen has been so impressed with the personal attention provided by his South Shore Bank relationship team including John Mannion, that he has referred and recommended South Shore Bank to as many people as he can.

He understands that it is the people behind the business that make any transaction worthwhile. All banks provide services but giving clients personal experience and welcoming them as members of the community are what set South Shore Bank apart. You can call the Bank and get through to a person who helps you or visit a Banking Center location and receive personal attention right away. He adds that “the Bank has met and exceeded his expectations in every way.”
