South Shore Peer Recovery was founded in 2014 by a group of volunteers who realized that treatment alone is rarely enough to continue sustained recovery from addiction. These caring people formed South Shore Peer Recovery to help people by removing the obstacles to recovery and creating a sense of community to help facilitate long-term change and progress. The South Shore Peer Recovery Community Center in Scituate, opened in March 2018, is a place where individuals and their families can connect with skilled staff members and each other to share wisdom, find support, build skills and locate resources such as treatment, counseling and sober housing. In addition to resources, the Center provides a sense of community through sober social events and a place to form friendships to help guide individuals through their recovery.
